Classic jazz with emphasis in technique, must contain less than 15% gymnastics.

Precision moves and drill team style dances, may include props or poms.

Classical ballet with emphasis in technique.

LYRICAL

 

Combination of jazz and ballet, interpretive in nature.

 

MODERN

 

Interpretive, stylized dance.

 

CONTEMPORARY

 

A combination of modern dance technique with stylized modern and post-modern movements.

 

TAP

 

Traditional tap and technique.

 

CLOGGING

 

Shoes have a double tap, traditional clogging moves not required.

 

IRISH HARD SOLE

 

Must involve hard soled shoes with Irish themed steps.

 

HIP-HOP

 

Street dance, funk

 

FOLKLORIC

 

Ethnic style dancing

 

NOVELTY/CHARACTER

 

Theme-based, may contain props

 

ACRO DANCE

 

Acrobatic/gymnastic movements, must have dance movements as well.

 

VARIETY

 

Open category for all other styles of dance.

 

PRODUCTION

 

This category is for your show-stopping group number. Numbers must involve at least 18 dancers and must be theme-based. Combination of age groups is encouraged.​
